Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
Pharmacists
Pharmacies employ pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants. A pharmacist today often supervises a staff of technicians and assistants, as well as managing the pharmacy business and offering patient care, recommendations and advice. While a licensed pharmacist must always be on duty, today most of the work of preparing and selling prescriptions is handled by pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants. Pharmacy Technicians Hospitals also employ pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Training programs for pharmacy technicians include both classroom and laboratory work, covering such fields as medical and pharmaceutical terminology, drug and pharmaceutical calculations, record keeping for pharmacies, and pharmaceutical professional techniques, as well as laws and ethics relating to pharmacies. Pharmacy technician jobs require knowledge of medication names, actions, uses and doses. Pharmacy technician graduates may receive a deploma, certificate, or associate degree. Pharmacy Directory |
